The Quick Release Belt owes its origins to the firemen of yesteryear. During the 'Great Fire of London' we believe, early fire tenders equipped with this type of buckle on straps retaining the coiled leather hoses, utilised its quick release mechanism to free their hoses with speed.
This single hand opening facility has obvious and numerous advantages for a trouser belt and having discovered an early pattern in an antique market in Ludlow, I asked the buckle makers to recreate them in solid brass and solid pewter with keepers to match
The quality is in keeping with the hand stitched bridle leather belts which are also avalibe to order
