The ‘Hardy’ Cartridge bags have evolved over the years of use by their designer and have to provide all the functions needed in the shooting field. Big enough to hold enough ‘bangs’ but not too heavy so we offer two sizes which when full will take the maximum stated amounts of twelve bore cartridges, large (100 – 125 twelve bore) and medium (75 – 100 twelve bore) – I get 100 in my medium bag and find it as much as I wish to have on my shoulder.
Easy access is vital when you’re in the ‘pound seats’ so the hinged flap can be folded right back out of the way. This function is achieved by attaching the flap to the main bag by hand stitched bridle leather chapes holding a steel bar capped with brass ends. A large opening ensures a big hand can find those ‘squibs’ in a hurry!
The Bridle and Saddlery leathers are English and of the best quality to ensure it can take all the weather, mud, hedges, dogs and vehicle trials encountered during the shooting day. The lining is pig skin suede to ensure durability over the years without the fraying and wearing associated with a baize linings.
How and why is it made?
English leathers hand selected and hand cut to achieve best shade and quality matching, with hand stitching to the bridle leather handles, straps and trims to ensure the strongest construction and unfailing service. Fittings in solid brass and the strongest webbings for the shoulder strap make using this a satisfying pleasure, knowing that the day’s demands will only enhance its look and patina over the many, many years of use – you will probably hand this on eventually.
